SHOP owners in Greytown are warned to adhere to the level 3 lockdown regulations and health protocols. This comes after uMvoti Municipality conducted an inspection and raided shops in town last week. Several shops were found contravening the lockdown regulations. A source said during an inspection the municipality was tipped off about unhygienic conditions at some of the shops. “These shops pose a risk [of spreading the disease]. We need more operations in town so that all businesses will comply to the lockdown regulations.”
Spokesperson for uMvoti Municipality Phindile Phungula said the operation was in line with the Covid-19 regulations routine inspections on all the shops in and around town to ensure compliance.
“Some shops are indeed contravening the level 3 lockdown regulations and are being dealt with through the routine inspections. The municipality is in the process of preparing all the necessary paperwork to serve those found to have contravened the level 3 lockdown regulations.
