Hermannsburg fun ride

Two wheels or four — the Hermannsburg fun ride was quite a challenge for all but very exhilarating and fun.

THE waft of fuel in the air and the sounds of four-stroke engines revving up weren’t the only hint that the HMB Fun Ride was getting into full swing — from early on Sunday morning, the road to the school was alive with vehicles driving to the starting point below the sports fields.

The 190 entries (50% up from last year) were evidence of the increasing popularity of the event, which has something for every age group, for two- and four-wheeled entries.

The youngest competitors tackled a course around the school, while the older and more experienced riders took on the course through the adjoining farmlands and forests. All the entrants expressed their enjoyment of the fun ride, in a convivial atmosphere — many took home a lucky draw prize, thanks to our sponsors.

Our thanks go to all the parents who gave so generously of their time, not only on the day but also during the weeks of preparation, as well as our teachers who helped to organise the event.

We especially thank our generous sponsors: Rocket Racing, Eckerold Yamaha, TWK Greytown, KZN Agriserve, Farmers Agricare, Hermannsburg School Trust, Superquick, Umvoti Fuel and Oil, Umvoti Repairs, Aheers Build & Save, Tuta Carriers, Ruben’s Deli, Spot-On Kranskop, Perry’s Bikes, Davids Motors, Mascor, Valtra, Honda, Garth Reich, Carl Ortmann and Allston Solutions.

Hermannsburg’s 2018 HMB Fun Ride had something for every type of off-road bike, for young riders to experienced riders, whether on two or four wheels — we look forward to April 2019 for the next round!
