AFTER a busy but productive first week, the Grade 8s, Grade 9s and the prefects spent the weekend at their respective camps. The camps are an integral part of our education programme as we guide our pupils towards being leaders in their chosen paths when they leave our school after completing Grade 12.
The Grade 8 class spent time at Glenrock, where they got to know each other and bonded as a class. This bonding will enable them to support each other during this year and beyond, as they grow into eventually being the seniors of our school.
While the Grade 9s had the bonding experience in their Grade 8 year, they face subject choices and the beginnings of career choices at the end of the year, which means they need to get to know themselves and their personal boundaries a bit better, and realise their ability to do things they didn’t think they could, boosting their confidence in other spheres as well. They started this process well at L’Abri.
The prefects spent a positive time at the Harburg Retreat Centre, learning about the importance of teamwork and mutual support, as well as discussing a variety of important aspects of the year ahead.
We look forward to a great year with their assistance.
A big thank you to all the instructors, teachers and hosts, who looked after our pupil so well, and made this weekend possible.
