ONE of the semi-finalists in the 2018 Mrs South Africa contest, Abegail Makhosi Madzonga, has strong Greytown links.
Her family lived in Muden so she stayed with her grandmother in Enhlalakahle while attending Greytown Primary and matriculating from Greytown Secondary School.
Madzonga is married with a 14-month-old daughter and three stepchildren — she lives with the family in Johannesburg.
She told the Greytown Gazettethat her contest journey has been amazing and hard work, but she said: “I want to win because my passion is to help those less fortunate — I want to be the helping hand that I myself did not have as a child.”
Mrs South Africa is more than a beauty pageant — it is a movement which empowers women and Madzonga is proud to be part of the Women4Women initiative, a programme which helps women who are starting a business.
It is a movement which helps the underprivileged and is associated with Ubuntu.
Madzonga also said an important part of the contest is raising funds to assist the disadvantaged, she has already identified two schools in this area that she is helping.
Semi-finalists have to each raise over R20 000 to assist their choice of who to assist. Help put another Greytonian in the headlines by voting: SMS: SABC3 Khosi Madzonga to 35959. SMS costs R3.
