PUPILS at New Hanover Preparatory School (NHP) held the official opening of the new, 25 m swimming pool on October 24.
A number of speeches were made that highlighted the history of the old pool, the building process and filling of the new pool, as well as looking forward to what this facility will provide for our NHP children for generations to come.
Pastor Rolf Schmidt blessed the swimming pool and two of our senior swimmers, Liam Freese and Melissa Dobeyn, cut the ribbons, signifying the official opening of this world-class sporting facility. The Grade 7 class then participated in the first official timed relay race in the pool, whereafter the whole school, staff and parents took part in the Swimchix Charity Swimathon, where the school community raised R22 000 which will be donated to the various charities supported by the Swimchix inititative. Participating in the Swimathon was a wonderful way to officially open the pool, and keep passing the blessing on to others. — Supplied.
