RAISING young boys for manhood requires experience and proper education to change their behaviour and mindset. This is according to the chairperson of the Imbumba Yamadoda NPO/forum in Greytown.

With July being men’s month, the forum launched programmes in the community to educate young men about the significance of being a respected man who lives with dignity.

Forum Adviser Mxolisi Kunene said the main objective of the organisation is to restore man’s dignity in the community and prepare young boys for when they cross the border from boyhood to manhood.

“Imbumba Yamadoda is led by married men who educate young boys about issues pertaining to manhood. They are taught about the important role that a man must play in the community, such as protecting the nation. They are also taught how to treat women.

“Since its inception, the youth has shown interest in the project.

“We want to restore hope and dignity and inspire young boys to refrain from mischievous behaviour.

“The forum runs programmes at schools and around communities where we educate the youth about such issues,” Nene said.

Senior leaders of the forum attend seminars from their superiors.

“The leadership of the forum is always on the hunt for new skills and innovations. We outsource men from other areas to come and conduct training with the leaders of the NPO that train young boys,” Nene added.
