fTENSIONS flared at a protest last week as about 1 000 protesters blocked the R74 with burning tyres and stones demanding job opportunities at a new aQuellé plant in the Kranskop area, while others rallied behind workers dismissed from eMseni Farming. Both operations are owned by the KwaSizabantu Mission.
News24 reported that workers, supported members of the community of KwaMxhosa and surrounds, had embarked on a strike over the alleged unfair dismissal of around 20 eMseni Farming workers last month.
The workers downed tools and questioned their salaries. It is alleged that they have since been dismissed.
