THE Turf Managers Association (TMA) of KZN was hosted at St Cathryn’s with managers and representatives from the Turf trade in attendance on January 12. The monthly TMA meetings are held at a different course each month - all over KZN. Topics discussed were the maintenance programme, budget and tips for the greenkeeper from different golf courses with Cynodin grass on greens and the management thereof. After the meeting the course was played and further comments and advice was given.

St Cathryn’s hosted 44 players at the inaugural quadrangular with teams from Mooi River, Greytown and Noodsberg on January 16. This was the brain child of Brent Barkhuizen and Dieter Meyer when the idea started four years ago. The aim was to keep Midlands golfers playing different courses and meeting new friends at Midlands courses. This tournament will be played at the different courses once a year and no golfer is selected to play. Golfers only have to make themselves available. The next leg of the tournament is April 24, 2021 at Noodsberg GC. The weekend saw some good banter and good golf - great to meet golfers from other clubs and the golf was played in a fun filled well spirited tournament. Thank you to Dieter Meyer for all his efforts leading this competition and the committees from all the clubs for their organisation and input. Strict Covid-19 protocols were in place, with masks worn, sanitised hands and not a drop of beer any where to be seen.
