WITH the scorching temperatures recorded in December as Umvoti residents tried desperately to find just that little bit of cool relief, the benefits of the limited rainfall did not last. Greytown and surrounds recorded up to 70ml during December and to date up to 30ml has been recorded. The Greytown Gazette requested an all-round update from Umzinyathi District Municipality - this will be published in next week's issue.
Greytonians are reminded once again of the vital need to save water - it is going to be a long, hard haul before the water supply returns to normal. In the meantime, recycle water where possible and when it rains make sure those buckets or tanks catch the drips from roof gutters - its amazing how much water can be collected this way.
STOP PRESS: Monday night’s storm for once delivered more than just thunder and lightning with a much appreciated 32mls being recorded in Greytown, but so much more is still required
