Alleged firearm robbery suspect to appear before court

A recent joint operation between Queenstown Flying Squad and Highway patrol led to the arrest of a 30- year-old male who was found in possession of a state-owned firearm and ammunition.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Lariane Jonker, the arrest followed after the suspect allegedly robbed a police official from Mdantsane with a firearm on Thursday, January 20, and took various state-owned property from him.

“Many state-owned items were found in the possession of the suspect,” said Jonker.  

The suspect is due to appear before the Queenstown Magistrate Court today, January 22 on charges relating to robbery with a firearm.
