AVID trail runners and those adventurous at heart, can now secure their passage to one of the most scenic and challenging trail run experiences on the calendar - the Bestmed Chokka Trail Run.
The annual Bestmed Chokka Trail Run, set to take place on August 11 and 12, is far from just another trail run. It is demanding. It will leave your lungs burning and your feet heavy, but your mind clear and your determination burning. From the sound of the wind on the hills to the gentle roar of the ocean, participants’ senses will come alive.
The race - organised by St Francis Sport and hosted by Cape St Francis Resort - offers four distances and the best combination of challenge and spectacular scenery.
The highlight of the weekend is the 62km ultra distance on Saturday, August 11. Replacing the 30km trail run, is the 42km marathon on August 11. Runners competing in these two distances must download the ORGSU App to ensure tracking and check-in times at various water points. Participants can leave a draw bag at the 15km/ 45km waterpoint at Duneridge Country House, as well as at the 30km waterpoint at the Eskom gate in Oyster Bay.
Other distances on the Saturday are 23km and 10km - replacing the 18km trail run.
On Saturday morning the ultra, the only distance to include 15km of the feared and respected Sand River’s moving dunes, will kick off at 06:30. The 42km distance will start at 07:00, the 23km at 08:00 and the 10km at 08:30.
Race briefing is 15 minutes prior to each starting time.
Prize-giving is at 16:00.
On Sunday, August 12, runners and walkers can enjoy a 5km family fun run at 09:00, while the 1km and 3km races for children under 12 years - all in aid of charity - will leave the starting blocks at 10:30 and 11:00 respectively. These three distances are in aid of the Beach Cleanup Project.
Race briefing is 15 minutes prior to each starting time.
Prize-giving is at 13:00.
