PUT on your racing shoes and helmet, and gear up - or down - for the fourth annual, adrenaline-packed MySpar Mountain Bike Classic set to hit the dirt roads on May 6.
Hosted by die Zuurbron Bike Park, the family event will take place in the majestic setting of Jacques and Liesje Steenkamp’s farm on the R330 between Humansdorp and Hankey.
With no lack of choice, there is a tailor-made mountain bike route through private farms with breathtaking views, catering to each individual’s skill level.
The skilled and very fit can put their mettle to the pedal in the 60km challenge, while the 40km ride is less technical, but still challenging.
There is a non-technical 20km ride for the younger enthusiasts and less experienced riders, as well as a 10km family fun ride.
For those who prefer to keep both their feet on the ground, there is a 10km fun farm run/ walk.
Learners have the opportunity to raise funds for their school with the Ride for your School initiative.
For every learner or teacher competing in the event, 40% of the entry fee will go back to the particular school.
A total of R20 000 in prize money will be up for grabs.
The early bird entry fee is R200 for the 60km challenge, R120 for the 40km race, R80 for the 20km ride, R50 for the 10km family fun ride, and R50 for the 10km fun farm run/ walk.
