IN a bid to introduce something new to give consumers better peace of mind, Albany Bakeries launched their new tamper-proof packaging for all their loaves in Pietermaritzburg last week.
PMB Albany Bakeries General Manager Andre Grobler said they are always looking at ways to improve their packaging.
“This innovation adds to the brand promise,” said Grobler, who emphasised that, through this packaging, the bakery can guarantee the integrity of products by providing a laser heat seal.
He added that the tamper-proof packaging will provide an additional level of comfort to their consumers when they are buying the bread packs.
“Quality and freshness are our key brand values. We are delighted to [introduce] this packaging solution to our consumers to ensure that the loaves they are buying are not compromised in any way,” said Grobler.
The new packaging includes a yellow “new tamper-proof seal” image so that consumers can easily recognise the secure packs.
The tamper-proof bread bag is the first in South Africa and uses laser-seal technology to ensure bread is sealed all the way from the bakery to the consumer.
The launch of the new packaging also included a tour of the bakery, during which Grobler explained that the new packaging required changes at the bakery, stating that 68 machines were set aside to manage this innovation.
“Albany Bakeries has proven to be leaders in innovation, long-lasting freshness, great taste, and superior quality products.
“Innovation is not only defined by putting out new devices, ideas or methods, but also by the process of uncovering new ways to do things that have existing processes,”said Grobler, who added that it can also refer to modifying business models and adapting to changes to achieve better products and services.
Furthermore, he said that, for more than 49 years, the bakery’s superior quality and freshness has been helping South African families express their love.
“The tamper-proof logo on all packs; including Best of Both white bread, Superior brown and white bread; are already available country wide,”said Grobler.
