CANCER survivors spoke about the difficulties they face after being diagnosed at a breakfast organised by Reach for Recovery and The Mall @ Scottsville on Friday.

Jane Stahlhut, who was diagnosed with breast cancer 17 years ago, told attendees it is very important to look after yourself before and after being diagnosed.

β€œIt is very important that women go for regular check-ups. Life is a precious thing. You need to take care of it and embrace it. It is a gift.

β€œIf you have been diagnosed with cancer it is important to have open communication with your family. Once you have cancer it does not only affect you, it also affects people close to you - your family and your children.” Stahlhut said cancer survivors must realise they are beautiful, positive and strong.
