Here’s what happened over 20 years!

The first Maritzburg Fever.
The first Maritzburg Fever.

THERE’S something about birthdays that gets everyone excited, and although we’re celebrating the adult status of a newspaper and not a human being, the excitement at the Maritzburg Fever is no less.

The Mirror, as many of you will remember, transitioned into the Maritzburg Fever in July, 2011 after Media24 announced changes to its community titles.

Changes were made to the name and design of the paper but the quality news reported on every week, remained the same.

In 2016, the newspaper was completely revamped — the design and layout became more vibrant, relaxed and colourful, and the types of stories were switched from hard news to soft news.

It’s imperative that we give our readers and advertisers something different to look forward to each week as there are many publications who carry the same stories each week.

In 2017, when the publication changed editorial hands, hard news was introduced to the paper on pages four and five so that readers are not oblivious to current affairs and are kept up to date on the serious issues which occur within the community, and not only what our unsung heroes and sportsman have been up to.

From profiles, sport, entertainment, socials, hard news and competitions to fantastic giveaways on our ever-growing Facebook page — the Maritzburg Fever is the total package.
