THE Msunduzi Municipality received a clean audit opinion from the Auditor-General for the 2014/2015 financial year.
This clean audit opinion was based on the municipality’s financial statements.
“In my opinion, the financial statements present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of the Msunduzi Municipality, as at 30 June, 2015 and its financial performance and cash flows for the year then ended, in accordance with the SA Standards of Generally Recognised Accounting Practice (Grap) and the requirements of the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) and Division of Revenue Act (Dora),” reads a passage from the Auditor-General’s report from a recent full council agenda.
“The office of the Auditor-General will present the audit report to the full council in January 2016.”
Democratic Alliance (DA) caucus leader Bill Lambert congratulated municipal manager and municipal CFO, Nelly Ngcobo: “Congratulations to the municipal manager and Nelly for bringing us back to where we belong.” Municipal speaker Babu Baijoo said everyone should be proud of the achievement, adding that accolades go to all municipal councillors and employees for making strides to improve the municipality’s economic standpoint from total bankruptcy.
