THE stage production, Ubuntu Nest - The Musical, is based on Makhubalo Ikaneng’s myth.

According to the myth, Ubuntu Nest is a magical nest where all souls go when we sleep.

It is at this nest that the souls get encouragement, inspiration and atonement.

This story is told with music, dance and narrative about ubuntu.

The cast and crew of this production are college students from Pietermaritzburg who are excited about the opportunity to grow in the industry.

“Working with the Creative Arts College was a great experience.

“We meant to encourage other professionals to work with colleges and universities to give young people in these institutions a platform to test what their learning in a professional environment,” Makhubalo Ikaneng, show director said.

Ubuntu Nest - The Musical cast and crew will be going on their 3 Cities Tour to showcase their exciting show.

The tour begins at the Golden Horse Casino on October 29.

Tickets are available at www.web and Pick n Pay, where the cast will entertain at a red carpet event.

The staging at the Golden Horse Casino is done in collaboration with the Creative Arts College, Pietermaritzburg Campus.

The next city will be Durban at the Sibaya Casino where the extravaganza will be showcased for two days.

The final destination will be Johannesburg at the Wits University Theatre.

Inspired by the theme of ubuntu, the cast and crew will be painting a house of a deserving beneficiary in every city they visit.

“We hereby call residents of Pietermaritzburg, Durban and Johannesburg to help us find deserving members in their community.

“These are people who have just had bad experiences and can benefit from encouragement and joy.

“Send pictures of the house of your nominee to Ubuntu Nest - The Musical Facebook page or email the picture to us at,” Ikaneng said.

Cast and crew want communities to get involved in identifying people that deserve this act of kindness.

Ubuntu Nest - The Musical wants to spread the joy on and off stage.

“We want to create memories for those that watch the stage production and owners of the houses we will be painting,” say Lungile Ikaneng, producer and tour manager.
