NATIONAL Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu) in the Harry Gwala Region is inviting everyone to be part of its annual sports day that will be held on August 17 at Plessislaer TVET College.
The games will include men’s soccer, women’s soccer, netball, volleyball and other fun games.
Nehawu regional secretary Zamisile Giyama told Echo that this is to be an annual event that they started last year. However, this year it will be more than just a sports day.
“Nehawu will, for the first time, host a national sports day in September. So with these games that will take place on Saturday, we will select the teams that will go to compete at provincial level on August 31.
“From there, we will then select the teams that will be representing the province at national level.
“We also want to promote a healthy lifestyle among our community members,” he said.
Giyama said the games are open to everyone, and are not for Nehawu members only. Any team can register and take part.
The registration is free. Teams will be allowed to register on the day from 8 am to 9.30 am.
They can also register prior to the event at the Nehawu office at 30 Timber Street in the CBD.
