PIETERMARITZBURG models will have an opportunity to showcase their modelling skills in a new pageant, Miss PMB Model of the Future, to be held on December 16.

The pageant, organised by NPO, Arts Republic Africa, is open to KZN models and will be held in Pietermaritzburg.

Age categories are 9-10, 10-12, 13-18, open and plus size. Entrance is R150 per model.

The auditions will be on November 25 at Marian Hall in Loop Street at 11am. Registration is from 9am to 10am.

Clive Hadebe, organiser and founder of Arts Republic Foundation, told Maritzburg Fever they are hosting the pageant because it has been noted that Pietermaritzburg has many talented models who don’t get an opportunity to showcase their skills in major pageants because pageants usually take place in other cities.

“This pageant is for them to showcase their talent. This is my way of giving back after being in the modelling industry for 17 years. It is time we groom our talent in Pietermaritzburg.

“There are models here who will go places, but they don’t get enough recognition because they only compete in small pageants, so we are giving them this platform and grooming them,” he said, adding the pageant will be an annual event.

Winners in each category will receive modelling portfolios, clothing vouchers, hair and make-up vouchers, weekend getaways and a mentorship programme with Mrs Africa Tourism SA 2017, Ntombifuthi Gumede.
