A PETROL attendant was severely beaten over the weekend after a scuffle broke out between him and four men who had filled petrol but refused to pay.
A source close to the matter confirmed that the men had filled petrol at the Engen garage on the corner of Khan Road a week before the incident where they had an issue over an amount of R10.
He said that the men held a personal grudge over the incident and came back over the weekend to get their vengeance.
The four men, once their petrol was filled, refused to pay resulting in the petrol attendant removing the keys from the vehicle which led to the scuffle.
“They used a steel rod/pipe which holds out paper rolls on the petrol machine and actually cracked the bowser boy’s head open,” said the source.
The man had to be rushed to Northdale Hospital for emergency care and is still in hospital presently.
Mountain Rise police spokesperson Captain Gay Ebrahim said the matter was not reported to the police and therefore no case had been opened yet.
