THE Msunduzi Museum held a speech contest on September 6 titled “To what extent as South Africans are we living to the values that Nelson Mandela stood for?”
Five pupils were rewarded with an all-expenses paid trip to Robben Island Museum in Cape Town, during the September school holidays, on a learning programme.
Dumisani Jali from the musuems education department said that the competition had been a tough one with pupils showing an in-depth understanding of the topic at hand.
“All contestants understood the topic for discussion and really put in an effort. It was also interesting to note learners’ opinions on the topic. It shows how informed they are on the topic,” said Jali.
Jali said that choosing five winners of the 12 present was a difficult choice especially since the pupils dealt well with the on-the-spot questions posed to them by the judges.
