Sports outlet supports tournament

THE popular sports outlet, Poobie Naidoo’s Sports, extended its community helping hand again to make possible a sports weekend in Richmond.

On Sunday, September 24, the Richmond community will slug it out in soccer and netball tournaments from 8am at Richmond Primary School.

The organiser and representative for the Change Richmond Foundation, Dwayne Ragavaloo, said the event is expected to be dominated by teams and schools under Richmond Municipality.

Ragavaloo says the aim of the event is to get the youth playing and on the sports field.

“It’s about encouraging the youth and community to display their skills for the day,” said Ragavaloo.

Poobie Naidoo’s Sports owner Poobie Naidoo said although nowadays it’s difficult to sponsor or fund any event, he was glad he could offer assistance.

“These days it’s difficult or impossible for any businessmen to just sponsor events because money is tight.

I am just glad we were able to scratch around to find something and help them out.

“Remember at the end of the day we are all parents and should always encourage children to take part in sport,” said Naidoo.

Naidoo donated a soccer and netball kits, trophies and medals.

Teams wishing to join can contact Thabo Mkhize on 073 153 2103 or Mkhonzeni Mtolo on 084 241 8973.
