ST John’s DSG matric pupil, Leah Suchet was awarded first prize in the Royal Society of South Africa, School Science Essay Competition. Her excellent essay in the category was, “There is a huge overlap in the DNA of humans, other animals, and even plants and bacteria. What are the implications for the way in which we think about humankind and life?” and it won the grand prize of R5 000, sponsored by the Claude Leon Foundation.
Leah’s essay will be published in the Transactions of the Royal Society of South Africa. As a result of Leah’s essay, St John’s DSG will be awarded one of the two Royal Society of South Africa-Claude Leon Foundation Trophies for 2017. - Supplied.
