ARE you looking for one school for your child’s entire schooling career, then look no further.

St Nicholas Diocesan School is an Anglican, independent, co-educational, day and boarding school from Grade RR to Grade 12. Entering into our 27th year, St Nicholas has grown in leaps and bounds in all areas.

We have the privilege and honour of being the first school in Pietermaritzburg to become a member of the South African Extraordinary Schools Coalition (SAESC).

We are in partnership with the Philosophy Department of UKZN. Our philosophy club allows our pupils the opportunity of enhancing their problem-solving abilities and provides them with a platform to acquire a deeper understanding of the process of thinking.

We offer affordable, private education and we are part of ISASA and the IEB. We continue to offer an excellent education and provide a secure and caring environment where all children are given sufficient opportunities to realise their potential. The needs of the “whole” child are catered for – intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual and cultural.

Our academic programme is based on the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (Caps) and the medium of instruction is English. At the heart of St Nicholas is our Christian faith. This is reflected in our motto – God leads.

The Anglican ethos is nurtured in class and school devotions as well as regular Eucharists.

Our school has a well-established boarding establishment with dedicated staff living on the property to ensure that our boarders are well taken care of.

We offer a wide range of sport and co-curricular activities, which include basketball, swimming, soccer, netball, chess, table tennis, athletics, rugby and debating.

Our talented and passionate marimba and steel drum bands have had the honour of playing at the following events in 2016 – The Witness 170th birthday celebration, our sixth Comrades Marathon, Grace College’s Founders Fest, The Proudly Primary Conference, The Hospice Winter Fair, Allison Homes Winter Festival, Jacaranda Lodge’s 30th birthday celebration, the Garden Show prize giving, St Mary’s Carol Service, the Opening Eucharist of the Diocesan Synod, a wedding at the Secret Garden and various other in-house events.

We have two well-equipped media centres, a music centre, a drama centre, three newly surfaced basketball courts, a pool and an indoor sports centre.

We offer free aftercare facilities until 5pm.

We are not just a school – we are a family.
