Celebrating heritage

Annually the Pietermaritzburg Heritage Forum gets together to promote events which draw attention to the varied heritage of the people of South Africa during September which has become known as Heritage Month. An interesting programme of 13 events, starting on 2 September until 27 September has been put together. The main speakers include Dr. Graham Dominy on “Fort Napier, The City and its legacy”, John Conyngham will talk on his research in producing his latest book “Hazara- Elegy for an African Farm” and Dr. Estelle Liebenberg-Barkhuizen on “Preserving family photographs”. Women’s Day inspirational brunch

Woodlands Primary School will be hosting an inspirational brunch in celebration of Women’s Day at Eddles Club House on 20 August from 10am to 1pm. Tickets cost R100.

Talking Parenting

Join Colleen and Candice from Contemporary Parenting on Thursday, 8 September 2016 at 6pm at Cordwalles Preparatory School 101 Howick Road, to learn more about ‘Building Resilience and Self Esteem for our Children through Struggle, Failure and Imperfection’. Colour Run PMB

The Colour Run Pietermaritzburg is taking place at Epworth School on 2 October from 10am to 1.30pm. Tickets cost R250 per person or R225 per team of four to 10, children under 10 run free. Weekly mediation classes

The SPCA Pietermaritzburg Village Market takes place every Wednesday and Saturday from 8am to 12pm. Outside stallholders welcome. Phone 033 386 9267.

The Pietermaritzburg Farmers’ Market is held on Saturdays from 6am to 10am at the PMB Botanical Gardens in Mayors Walk. Inquiries: Mike at 082 886 0687.

The YMCA Sunday Market takes place on the first and last Sunday of every month at the YMCA, Scottsville, from 9am to 3pm (weather permitting). Phone Jenny at 073 500 1244.
