ELEVEN Brothers defeated Young Tigers 2-1 in the Motherwell Football Association (MOFA) First Division clash that was played at Motherwell NU 9 Stadium on Sunday.
Brothers were awarded a penalty after Thando Jacobs was brought down by one of Tigers’ defenders in the penalty area. Jacobs himself scored the resulting penalty.
Tigers clawed back into the game and replied with Unathi Kwakwari’s goal from the penalty spot and the two sides went to the break on level terms.
In the second half, fans saw the teams play their hearts out.
The tempo of the game was very fast. As the clock was winding down, Kwakwari failed to convert a fine opportunity into a goal.
However, Brothers made their chance count after Jacobs unleashed a close range shot that Tigers’ keeper was unable to save and Brothers sealed the game at 2-1.
Tigers’ head coach, Melikhaya Cakwebe, stated that his side “played like a wounded lion”.
“I am very proud of my boys because they put up a good fight. I can see that there is a change in our team.
“These youngsters will be the best players in the future because they are willing to learn from the senior players. With time, everything is going to be right,” said Cakwebe.
