THE PE Express First Choice Kids and Baby Expo ended on a happy note with six winners walking away with prizes valued at over R45 000.

There were plenty of winners throughout the three-day event with prizes and expo-exclusive offers promoted by generous exhibitors at the ninth expo, held at the Boardwalk Exhibition Centre.

Two finalists were drawn each day, winning prizes valued at nearly R4 000 each, from First Choice Milk, Muna Bikes and Oumies Dolls, and standing a chance of winning the main prize which was valued at over R32 000.

With five finalists on stage, one finalist was unfortunately not present; the excitement mounted as the winning entry form was drawn.

Overall winner Aadielah Abdullah, of Overbaakens, won six months’ free tuition at Curro Castle Westbrook premium independent school, as well as a relaxing two-night getaway for her family in Mossel Bay, courtesy of XL Bay Travel.

She also won a beautifully crafted jungle gym from Windsor Forest Products as well as a Bubble Soccer Party at Fairview Action Arena.

Sun International will spoil her family with a buffet meal for two at Bayside Pantry as well as a high tea treat in the Lobby Lounge of the Boardwalk Hotel.

The six finalist prize winners were: Lieschen Loest of Summerstrand, Zahraa Abdulla of Gelvan Park, Jo-Lynne Machaba of Uitenhage, Amarinda Nagel of Walmer, Suha Caffere of Gelvan Park and the grand prize winner, Abdullah.

To recognise the high standard of exhibition stands, a panel of judges, consisting of Bettie Giliomee- Rossouw, regional editor of EP Media, Carmelia Miles of First Choice and Andrew Stewart of Peri Expo, visited the expo on Friday, October 5, to rate the exhibitors’ creative use of space, visitor engagement and marketing information.

Nutristart took first prize with their visually inviting layout, fun interactive mood and excellent tasting and special offers for kids and parents. Young Entrepreneurs took second prize for their interactive use of space, passionate staff and great visitor competitions. Curro Westbrook Independent School won third prize for their attractive décor, well-managed activities with enthusiastic and informative staff.

Families had plenty to keep them entertained this past weekend with the PE Express First Choice Kids & Baby Expo which saw thousands visit the Boardwalk Exhibition Level.

Now in its ninth year, the expo enjoyed the reach of the broader Eastern Cape surrounding areas due to its new partnership with EP Media and its community newspapers.

The expo’s entertainment programme kicked off with Curro Westbrooks’ talented violinist musicians onstage followed by the kiddies’ favourite purple dinosaur, Barney, before making delicious taste inventions at the popular First Choice smoothie competition.

Budding young chefs also loved the opportunity of mixing fresh fruit and First Choice’s dairy products to compete for fun prize hampers.

A new favourite onstage activity at the expo was the cute Miss and Mr Kids’ Expo competition, co-ordinated by Extreme Models, which saw over 50 mini models strut the stage to the delight of the audience.

Expo organiser, Linda Harwood, expressed her satisfaction with the success of the event following great feedback from exhibitors.

“It’s been wonderful to experience the positive energy and success of this year’s event and to hear exhibitors’ feedback of building new business and to witness families thoroughly enjoying themselves,” Harwood said.
