HOUDINI Locksmiths and Security celebrates its 40th birthday this month.
This family business has grown from a husband-and-wife team, Heather and Jimmy Britz, to employing 36 workers today. It also started with only two vehicles and today it has 18 with which to service its customers.
The company has plans to expand even further next year and open more Houdini Express stores throughout the Eastern Cape and the rest of South Africa.
Jullian Britz, the franchise director, took over the business when his father died in 1997. His mother Heather was at one stage the only female key cutter in the Eastern Cape.
“I came to Houdini with a business background and that is what I believe makes our business so successful,” Britz said.
He attributes their success to hard work.
“We do locks, CCTV, safes, intercoms, remotes and receivers, electric fences and gates.
“We also go the extra mile for all of our customers and are available for call-outs 24 hours a day.”
