THE Seedbeds for Transformation Conference is offering a R10 000 art grant to the artist who presents the best artist proposal on sustainability at their three-day conference from May 9 to 11 in Port Elizabeth.
Public artists are invited to participate in the conference, geared towards achieving a more sustainable development outlook in Africa.
At the end of the three days, the winning idea will be transformed into a work of public art.
Designed around the concept of an innovative marketplace, the conference will bring together the leaders from government, industry and the media.
Attending artists will have access to workshops and talks focusing on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations, which tackle topics that promote peace, gender equality, climate action, the eradication of poverty and more.
Artists will also have access to a pop-up artist studio at the event to develop their public art proposals in real-time over these three days, in preparation for their grand artwork pitch that will take place at the conference in front of a live audience on the third and final day.
Attendance for artists wanting to participate in the conference is complimentary and limited to ten people only.
Access includes snacks and lunches during the event and social media coverage of progress in the pop-up art studio.
To claim a spot, one must send a short artist biography and portfolio of previous work to streetcapture@gmail.com by April 30. Successful applicants will be notified by May 2.
