Three people burnt beyond recognition and two others were injured when a vehicle collided with a truck last night, September 21, just before midnight.
A silver VW Polo was travelling on Addo Road when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle and collided with a Scania truck.
Police spokesperson, Capt. Gerda Swart, said that both the car and truck caught alight.
“Three unidentified people travelling in the Polo, the driver included, burnt beyond recognition. Two passengers in the Polo, a male and female, managed to escape the flames and was admitted to hospital,” Swart said. “The driver of the truck was not injured. Investigations are continuing,” she added.
A case of culpable homicide is being investigated by SAPS Swartkops.
Police are appealing to anyone who can assist in identifying the victims or may know of a person driving a silver VW Polo and has not heard from him since last night, to contact SAPS Swartkops D/Sgt Luyanda Maneli on 082 697 5845 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
