Women between the ages of 60 and 80 years, living at the Beit-ul Aman Home, celebrated Heritage Day with over 100 guests at Wynberg High School on Monday 24 September.

They were entertained and three of them even won mink blankets in a prize draw run by the organisers, the Eden Safety and Security Neighbourhood Watch (ESS).

Zulfaa Hassen, superintendent at the home, says she welcomes the support from the community and appreciates that the ESS and other concerned parties of the area at large always cast a watchful eye over the home.

She says the home’s holistic approach to caring includes such opportunities for the elderly to socialise and see different faces whilst boosting their emotional and mental wellness.

Beit-ul Aman currently has 50 frail residents in its care and is currently in need of adult diapers.

The event included activities for children and young adults. The organisers say the event was aimed at bringing fun to the community and raising funds for the ESS.

Yumna Abrahams, ESS secretary, says the event was a success and it was a pleasure making a difference in the lives of elderly people.
