The body of the man (69) who had been reported missing has been found floating in the Silvermine Dam within the Central Section of Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) earlier this morning (Saturday 27 March).
TMNP park manager, Frans van Rooyen, said the discovery followed a week-long search for the hiker who had been reported missing on Sunday 21 March after his vehicle was discovered in the Silvermine parking area.
"The family has positively identified and confirmed that it is indeed the body of Mike Reilly who has been missing for a week. We would like to express our sincere condolences to the family during this difficult time," said Van Rooyen.
The Silvermine Dam had been temporarily closed to the public earlier this week while the police diving unit, Metro rescue unit, TMNP Rangers and the Working on Fire team were conducting a search operation in and around Silvermine.
The search operation began on Monday 22 March.
