Camps Bay karter Sebastian Boyd heads to Vereeniging’s National Karting Final on Saturday 16 July with one mission in mind – to come back with the SA high school Junior Max 125cc title and the ticket to Italy’s world final in his back pocket.
It’s not necessarily an easy ask, with Sebastian sitting a mere two points ahead of Jozi driver Cameron O’Connor and Mozambican Carl Pitzer, who are tied in second in the championship chase, and Cape rivals Daniel Duminy and Jason Coetzee who are both well within striking distance. But young Boyd is confident on keeping ahead in the championship he has led from the outset.
“I hope do be smooth and fast this weekend, I want to keep it clean and have fun,” explains 14-year old Sebastian.
“I’ve had a good year so far and I also hope to keep the Junior Max championship in the family – my cousin Dino Stermin is the reigning champion, so it would be cool for me to take it off him!
“I have really enjoyed racing this year and I’ve made some really good friends at the track,” the youngster who has been racing for just over two years says. “So I’d like to wish all my competitors the best for the weekend – may the best man win!”
