It was fun and games for seniors at an event organised to entertain at the Manenberg People’s Centre on Wednesday 7 August.
The fun-filled event was organised by the Caring Hearts Seniors’ Club and was attended by club members as well as residents from the surrounding community.
Through the event the club also wanted to raise funds for its upcoming breakfast in September.
Participants were treated to a light meal and Bingo sessions. Bingo caller Faldiela de Vries kept the numbers rolling during the game.
Centre manager Christine Jansen says the event, more than anything, was for seniors to have fun. She also thanked the provincial department of social development for sponsoring the event.
“Because of their donation, we have managed to get some goodie bags to give them when they go home,” she says.
The club also hosts numerous activities including regular visits by members, where they are treated to meals.
Jacqueline Davids and Yosuf Rowland, both Manenberg residents, said they were having a great time at the club.
They thanked the centre for hosting the event and vowed to return if the event or a similar one happened again.
