The funeral for Anna Cornelius (57) from Scarborough will take place at the NG Church in Fish Hoek at 11:00 on Tuesday 3 April. Cornelius’ body was found on the shore of Scarborough beach on Sunday. Cornelius was the mother of 21-year-old Stellenbosch University student Hannah Cornelius who was hijacked, kidnapped and murdered in May last year.
Lily Reed, CEO of the Hannah Cornelius Foundation, said on Sunday that news of Cornelius’ death was met with great shock and sadness.
“She sadly and unexpectedly passed away this morning (Sunday). Anna was an amazing human being, full of light and energy. She is with her daughter now and resting in peace. The family asks that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.
“Willem [her husband] has asked that any flowers, cards or notes of condolence be converted into donations to the Hannah Cornelius Foundation.
“The HCF will continue in the memory of Hannah and Anna. It was Anna’s dream to continue Hannah’s legacy through the work that the foundation started earlier this year in Ocean View,” says Reed.
