From glory to glory is the journey of 27-year-old Andrews Klazinga from Constantia as he scored himself a spot at the popular Cape Town Magic Club in a show called Monday Night Magic.
The show opened at the Artscape Theatre Centre on Monday 1 October and will continue until Monday 26 November. Klazinga was one of the opening performers.
This comes just a year after he made a debut in October last year with his first show titled If I Really Did Have Powers.
Convinced that the show was a success, Klazinga says he is fit to take another step forward on a new challenge.
“I am absolutely overjoyed to be on the lineup this year. The other performers are of such a high calibre and I am honoured to be performing with them. Monday Night Magic gives us the opportunity to show the Cape Town audiences the high standard of magic in this country.”
Klazinga says the secret to his success is always trying to find something unique that he can own and use to impress the audience.
He says he always aims to make people gasp in amazement and thereafter he interacts with them to find out what they enjoyed most about his performance.
“I enjoy creating new moments of wonder in my audience’s mind. A magician is an artistic performer who uses sleight of hand to create moments of wonder in the minds of their spectators.
“I promise that when you come and see me perform you will experience something special that you will not forget anytime soon.”
His talent has reportedly been confirmed by his “greatest accomplishments”, which include performing his show at the 2018 Cape Town Fringe Festival, doing a sold-out show at the Alexander Bar Theatre in Cape Town and doing a run at the 2018 National Arts Festival in Grahamstown.
“For this achievement the College of Magic awarded me their Silver Medallion Award, which is their highest award.”
He has rubbed shoulders on stage with the likes of Larry Soffer and Marcel Oudejans.
Oudejans is the executive producer of Monday Night Magic. He says when he saw Klazinga performing his debut show he saw great potential.
“Andrew has a great talent and passion for his art as a mentalist.”
