Mitchell’s Plain police officers have arrested four men who may be linked to a Stilbaai farm murder.
On Friday 20 April at 17:00, officers caught four men stripping a vehicle in the backyard of a house in 2nd Avenue, Tafelsig.
The suspects started running when they saw the police and two managed to evade arrest but another two were caught.
Police impounded a suspected stolen silver Nissan Maxima. One was arrest the next day.
“Further investigation by police led to the arrest of a fourth suspect,” says police spokesperson, Captain Ian Williams. The suspects are believed to be linked to the Stilbaai farm murder and robbery of Monday 16 April.
Five men dressed in orange overalls and balaclavas attacked three men and a 63-year-old woman.
A gun shot hit the woman and she later died from her injuries. Two other men at the house were assaulted and another forced to open a safe.
“The suspects took R40 000 in cash, a 40-calibre Glock pistol, a 12-gauge shotgun, two rifles and an unknown amount of ammunition. They also stole a white Toyota bakkie. The four, aged 24, 25, 26 and 40, face a charge of possession of a hijacked vehicle.
The Provincial Detective Unit is investigating.
