Subscriptions are available for the new Cape Town Concert Series recital season, which opens on Saturday 20 February with a recital by acclaimed violinist Jack Liebeck and pianist Amandine Savary.
The duo will play sonatas by Debussy, Beethoven (in F, “Spring”) and Brahms (no 3 in D minor) and two pieces by Lalo – “Romance Serenade” and “Guitare”.
On Saturday 19 March, cellist Amanda Forsyth and pianist Annaline Ball will play a selection of works that will include a piece by Amanda’s father, the South African-born Canadian composer Malcolm Forsyth, as well as a selection from composers such as Alexina Louie, Schumann, De Falla, Prokofiev and Shostakovich.
On Saturday 16 April, Ammiel Bushakevitz will perform works from his latest award-winning CD of works of Schubert. This will be a fundraising recital.
The concert on Saturday 21 May will feature Beethoven string quartets, which will be performed by violinists David Juritz and Suzanne Martens, Karin Gaertner (viola) and Peter Martens (cello).
The final concert of the season on Saturday 11 June features violinist Kristof Barati, who will play the “Kreuzer” sonata (Beethoven) with pianist Brian Wallick, as well as works by Brahms, Sarasate and two pieces from Souvenir d’un lieu cher by Tchaikovsky.
