The Promenade Mall hosted a community fly on Thursday October 24 to shine a light on mental health. The community fly was held ahead of the International Kite Festival in Muizenberg on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October.

The initiative commemorated Mental Health Month.

The sky was filled with colour when international and local kite enthusiasts flew some of their creations.

“Raising awareness of mental health is an important initiative. We are excited to be hosting a kite decorating competition this year alongside the community fly,” says Brenda Bibby, general manager at Liberty Promenade.

Creativity and self-expression encourage a healthy mind and boost self-confidence in children,” Bibby continues.

“Mental health is something to be considered from a young age and we need to do everything we can to ensure our youth are stimulated in positive ways”.
