Non-profit organisation Beauty Behind Bars will hold a pamper party at Maitland Hall on Saturday 12 May. Organisers urge the community to support the event.
Services on offer will include neck and shoulder massages, make-up and manicures at a cost of R100 per two treatments.
Founder Cleo Jacobs says the aim is to empower women. Beauty Behind Bars strives to celebrate the beauty of those living in adverse situations behind bars, says Jacobs. The organisation aims to give hope, encouragement and love to women in prisons, old age homes, rehabs, mental hospitals, shelters, and HIV and TB centres.
“I had a dream to visit women who are facing adverse challenges, neglected and rejected by society. Beauty Behind Bars was then born on the first day of September 2016.
“We hosted our first empowerment pamper event on 29 October 2016 at the female centre in Pollsmoor Prison, followed by a Christmas party on 16 December 2016 at the Haven Old Age Home and recently we had a pamper event for mothers of babies and pregnant women in Pollsmoor on 29 April last year.
“Our team of volunteers are loving, caring, committed and passionate ladies who empower women with beauty treatments,” says Jacobs.
