Four suspects were caught last week after they fled from a restaurant in Kalk Bay, shooting a City of Cape Town traffic officer in the process.
According to the City, the traffic officer was standing in the parking lot at Kalk Bay Harbour when he was shot on Friday 4 November. He saw four men fleeing from a nearby restaurant after it had been robbed allegedly and called for help. The officer described the getaway vehicle. Law Enforcement officers spotted the vehicle in Muizenberg.
They gave chase along Baden Powell Drive and nabbed the four suspects behind Rocklands Sports Complex in Mitchell’s Plain. Officers also recovered a firearm and the getaway vehicle.
Mayco member for safety and security JP Smith commended the officers. “I would also like to wish the officer who was wounded a speedy recovery. The City will provide the necessary support services to him, including counselling,” he said.
