Liam O’Brien was also handpicked by event organiser and professional darts player, Devon Petersen, as one of the participants at the recent Guinness World Record attempt held two weeks ago.
O’Brien beat out hundreds of hopefuls from around the country to be the Last Man Standing at the African Singles Championships held at Grandwest from Friday to Sunday.
The total prize money of R100 000 was divided up between several players with everyone in the top 32 walking off with a cheque.
This was the second annual Last Man Standing competition.
Last year’s winner, Mitchell’s Plain-born Deon Oliver who now resides in Port Elizabeth, made it to the semi-finals, narrowly losing to finalist Alexander Faddel.
Faddel and O’Brien faced off at the finals with the end result being O’Brien 4-2.
