On Saturday 27 August positive restoration of the partnership and trust between the police and members of the community was restored when officers attached to Lentegeur police station responded to a tip-off from the community about an illegal firearm in Hermes Road, Mandalay.
At 14:00 officers responded. A man fitting the description was tactically approached by officers. Police found and confiscated a 9mm Star pistol, a magazine and 9mm live ammunition.
The 25-year-old suspect was arrested.
At the same time, police spotted another man just further down the road.
On searching him they also found and confiscated an imitation 9mm pistol.
Police arrested the 27-year-old man for the possession of an imitation firearm.
The cluster commander, Major General Gregory Goss says police will continue clamping down on crime. He commended his members for a job well done as well as the community for their involvement in reporting crime and criminals.
