I get a special kind of motivation from reading famous quotes.
They speak to me in a different way and sum up emotions that most people, including myself, often can’t put together.
Some time ago, I came across a quote that hit close to home and lifted my spirits. It made me realise how gifted women are.
The quote from Phylicia Rashad says: “Any time women come together with a collective intention, it’s a powerful thing. Whether it’s sitting down making a quilt, in a kitchen preparing a meal, in a club reading the same book or around the table playing cards, or planning a birthday party, when women come together with a collective intention, magic happens.”
It made me realise how strong women are. With everything focused on women this month, I thought I should share that quote and encourage women.
The quote says a lot about the things women can achieve when they work together. It also tells of the strength women possess. However others may have left that fighting power, that strength dormant.
I have heard people talk of the pull-her-down syndrome. Let us do away with that. How about we all work together, celebrate each other’s successes, support each other’s businesses? Be a shoulder to lean on for another women.
Let it not be competition but complete each other.
I believe women have so much to offer. We can make a small thing bloom and be magnificent. It doesn’t matter how small the thing we are working on is, but if we pull together it can be beautiful.
Remember a time when you hit rock bottom and was miserable and heart-broken? It is human nature to think that you would never survive it but the strength in you fought your way out. You came up like a phoenix, from the ashes you rose into something beautiful.
My call is to all women: Let us see beauty in ourselves. Let us see beauty in the work of others. Be there to lend a helping hand. Share ideas and make something beautiful. We all have the resources and most of them are within us, waiting to be put to good use.
Let’s build each other up as women and create the magic.
