Three Mitchell’s Plain gymnasts just competed at a national competition in Pretoria with their Athlone-based group.

After Bemur Gymnastics won gold at the Gym for Life Challenge in July, Aidon William, Leah Boltman and Jayden Hendricks went to work practising to perfect their routines in the group of 15 who competed over the weekend.

Aidon (10), Leah (12) and Jayden (12) all attend the Weltevreden aftercare and left for Pretoria on Thursday to compete on Saturday.

They once again performed a group routine.

This time they placed second.

They received silver medals at the event on Saturday.

Aidon and Jayden told People’s Post they were nervous and excited and practised hard for the competition. They had all been looking forward to competing on a national level.

Aidon and Leah have been doing gymnastics for three years and Jayden has been doing gymnastics almost all her life.

Aidon is a learner of Parkhurst Primary School, Leah is at Mitchell’s Plain Primary School and Jayden is at Hillside Primary School.

Jayden says she would like to thank her teacher for the contribution made to her trip.
