AN active 87-year-old pensioner from Shelly Beach has become an inspiration to other gym goers in his hometown. Bob White can be found at Body Harmony Gym three times a week pedaling away on the exercise bike or lifting weights. He says this has kept him in tip-top shape.
“I exercise for two hours every time I come here. This helps keep me healthy as I have no aches or pains and I sleep well at night,” said White.
He says some people were at first amazed seeing a person of his age there. “What I like best about this gym is the friendly atmosphere and the welcoming environment.”
Although White says he was never a strict gym goer, he played a lot of sport over the years.
“I was a footballer playing for Germiston Callies in my youth days and from there went on to baseball,” said White. The last sport he played was bowling.
Body Harmony Gym owner Imran Khan said they like having White there as he has become an inspiration to others.
White encourages other senior citizens to keep active even if it is just for an hour a day.
