Bank card thieves arrested

FOUR men were arrested on Wednesday in Hibberdene after a man, withdrawing money from an ATM, was robbed of his card.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said one suspect approached the man and started pressing buttons on the ATM, pretending to have forgotten his slip after a withdrawal.

“The complainant called out for help and community members and members of a security company managed to stop the suspect’s vehicle.

“Inside were four occupants and the complainant’s card was in their possession,” said Wiid.

Wiid said Hibberdene police were informed and arrived at the scene. All four suspects were arrested and will face a charge of theft. They will appear in court soon.
