AT St Mary’s, boarding is part of the fabric of the school. Open to girls from Grade 8 to matric, boarders enjoy a close-knit sense of family within a structured “home” environment which include rules, chores and much laughter.
Here, lifelong bonds are formed and boarders learn valuable lessons and develop a healthy sense of independence.
Girls are encouraged to personalise their bedrooms with bright bedding, photos and mementos from home.
They experience a feeling of belonging from the beginning and are part of small tutor groups which meet regularly to help them settle quickly and happily into the routine of high school.
Weekly activities are planned for those girls who stay in during the weekend. These could include shopping at the mall, going to the beach and ice skating. The senior girls may also attend gym at the Virgin Active under the supervision of our head of boarding.
