Communities encouraged to participate in the Mayoral Izimbizo

UGU District Municipality and its family of local municipalities will be embarking on the annual Mayoral Izimbizo programme where the municipal leadership will interact with communities in rural and urban domains of the district on municipal programmes and service delivery issues from next Tuesday, October 17.

This annual process is in adherence to the Local Government Systems Act 32 of 2000, which gives a directive to municipalities to encourage and create conditions for communities to participate in the affairs of the municipality.

These meetings serve as a two-way communication process tailored at improving service delivery and community involvement in decision-making processes of the municipality, which ensures that community’s needs are responded to, thus improving service delivery.

Communities are therefore requested to use this process for maximum benefit by ensuring their participation and share the developmental agenda of our district.

Ugu District Municipality promotes working together to create an environment that is friendly, responsive, accountable, effective and efficient for our communities.
