Cycling community enjoys new track

THE launch of the MTB trail at San Lameer­ saw cyclists and their families not only enjoy the new track, but have fun day out.

The event entailed four cycling challenges, free massages by therapists from Camelot Spa, a children’s fun zone, food vendors and more.

Andrew Ramos, founder of the Tiago’s franchise and Bundubashers MTB Club Chairman, launched a new mountain bike series­ before prize giving.

This series is made up of five races which will take place during the course of the year.

The first one takes place in July at the Port Edward Holiday Resort and Fever is the media partner.

Mandie Stander gave permission to San Lameer to name one of the bridges after her son Burry, a world renowned cyclist, who was killed in 2013 after taxi turned over a solid line and collided with him while cycling in Shelly Beach.

The bridge will be called the “Burry Stander Bridge”.

San Lameer pledged R10 000 towards the Burry Stander Foundation.
